Tourist Information

Travel documents:

On arrival you must have a valid passport as well as a return ticket or a connecting ticket to a different destination. Also you would need to present a tourist card to the immigration officials to be stamped. You will receive the form on board the aircraft. A copy of this card is a legal document that you would need to return to the officials when you leave the country. Please make sure you keep this form in a safe place. The loss of the form will incurred problems on departure date. For your information, there is a $ 50 US departure tax that you must pay cash at the airport.

Customs:

All European travellers are allowed to bring to Europe: 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco, a litre of alcohol of 22% GL or 2 litres of alcohol if less than 22% GL, 500 grams coffee beans or 200 grams of ground coffee, 50 grams of perfume or 0,25 litres of eau de toilette, and a $ 50 US worth of presents. The law forbids bringing sea shell products or any other that contains marine shells

Language:

Spanish is the official language. Natives use Castilian to communicate on a regular basis. The indigenous of various regions have their own dialect. Hotel receptionists speak fluent English.

Timetable:

There is a 6 ½ hours difference in winter season and 5 ½ hours in summer. Make sure you adjust your clocks on arrival, as here we are behind European time.

Vaccination:

It is not a requirement to vaccinate before travelling to Venezuela. However, if you have in mind to visit the Amazon jungle, it is necessary to vaccinate against malaria, tetanus, hepatitis A, and yellow fever.
