Margarita Island information
There is no other
island in South America with the potential and touristy attraction than
Margarita Island, the Pearl of the Caribbean.
Many people have their hearts smiling seeing so much beauty: fantastic
nature, impressive mountains, tropical vegetation, beautiful beaches with
palm trees, historical sites, churches, exotic animals, caribbean atmosphere,
excellent restaurants and fabulous sunny weather with temperatures around 30
degrees. These are some of the reasons visitors wish to stay here.
Margarita Island is located 60 km from Venezuela, 11 degrees north of the
meridian. It is part of a group of three islands in the Caribbean:
Margarita, Coche and Cubagua. The surface area is 1,080 km2. It is the
largest island of the group. According to statistics in 2008, the population
is approx. 500,000 people.
The capital is La Asuncion. This is where the government offices, municipal
palace, police head quarters, and art museums are located.
Shopping is another attraction you will experience whilst you visit the
island. Porlamar city is where the best shopping malls of the Caribbean are
to be found. The island is tax free, and this is an incredible opportunity
to find international brands such as: Breitling, Gucci, Cartier, Diesel,
DuPont, Nike, Rolex, Wrangler, and Versace at more attractive prices than in
Europe.
